Issues with email replies from the Digital Education account

We are currently experiencing some problems with email replies from our ticketing software TOPdesk being sent directly to user’s spam folders.  If you have recently sent in a request to Digital-Education@bristol.ac.uk can you please check that your spam folder does not contain any follow up correspondence.

We are working with IT Services to resolve the issue and hope to be back to normal shortly.

Blackboard upgrade, 7 pm Sunday 22 July – 12 noon Monday 23 July

As a final reminder, the Blackboard upgrade will take place between 7 pm on Sunday 22 July and midday on Monday 23 July. Blackboard will be unavailable during this time, so please do not schedule any activities requiring Blackboard during that period.

New Blackboard courses for 2018-19 units and programmes will become available to staff between 2 and 8 August.

Blackboard maintenance, Friday April 27th, 1 am – 7 am

On Friday, April 27th, 2018, Blackboard will be performing scheduled infrastructure maintenance at their data centre. The six-hour window is for the entire maintenance work to complete; however, the total outage duration is not expected to exceed 30 minutes and will be near the beginning of the maintenance period.

Change to the way Instructors access marking in the Turnitin App

Turnitin have announced a change to the way you access marking in the Turnitin Feedback Studio via the App. Previously this was done through use of an access code generated in each Blackboard course. This has now been replaced by entering your email address, after which you will be sent a link.

Turnitin Service Degradation – Monday 5th March – Normal Service Restored

We have just recieved the following notification from Turnitin UK –

Turnitin Service Alert

Users may experience slowness while making submissions or viewing them, we are continuing to investigate this issue as a priority. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Please let your students know that they may need to leave extra time for submitting to the service. We will update this post when we have more information.
Update – 3.45pm Turnitin have confirmed that normal service has been resumed.

Blackboard maintenance (no downtime), 1 am – 5 am, Friday, January 26

Blackboard will performing emergency infrastructure maintenance between 1 am and 5 am on Friday, January 26. While we anticipate no interruption in the Blackboard service as a result of the work being performed, we cannot entirely rule out periods of service interruption during this maintenance window. Blackboard will make all efforts to keep any service disruption within the window to a minimum, but you should be aware that interruptions are possible.
