Phishing emails purporting to be from Blackboard

Some users have reported receiving the following emails from the “Blackboard Learn system”:

Bristol Courses System Update.

You have received a new update from Blackboard Learn system about your new
course form-871.

Please view this update and fill the process form Urgent.

These are not genuine. Please do not respond, and refer to IT Services guidance on phishing emails.

Blackboard Intermittent Accessibility Issues

We are currently investigating reports of slow response times when accessing Blackboard pages.  It would appear that some users are being affected by unavailability or severe time lags when using Blackboard.  Our IT systems team are looking into the problem and hope to have it resolved as soon as possible, we will blog any updates as they arise.

“At risk” period 7 am – 9 am Wednesday 23 November, due to network maintenance work

IT Services have announced that planned maintenance of the University network will be taking place between 7 am and 9 am on Wednesday 23 November. There should be no effect on the service, but as Blackboard and Questionmark Perception depend on the network, this time should be considered an “at risk” period. Turnitin unavailable – 5th November 1pm – 6pm

Turnitin have announced on Saturday November 5, the following services will be unavailable from 1pm – 6pm GMT due to necessary scheduled maintenance:
• Turnitin (including mobile)
• TurnitinUK
• iThenticate
• WriteCheck
• Integrations

Where applicable, please be aware no submissions or grading will be possible through any of the services listed above during this time. We therefore advise that submission deadlines be set outside of this maintenance window.
